My Bedbugs Flies Off With Nine Emmys

“My Bedbugs” Interest Growing

Detroit, MI, June 20, 2006 – After receiving an unprecedented 19 Emmy nominations, cast and crew of “My Bedbugs” were honored amongst 500 Television Academy members with nine Emmys on June 17, 2006 at the Michigan 28th Annual Emmy Awards. Greenestuff, Inc. is the production house that produces the children’s television show in Clinton Township, Michigan. The 30-minute show airs on WTVS Channel 56 in Detroit as well as PBS stations across the country and broadcast outlets throughout Canada.

My Bedbugs had received 19 nominations.  Some were multiple nominations in the same category.  Out of 13 category nominations, they received 9 Emmys. No other nominee won more awards for a single show prompting one award recipient (in the sports category) to say, "Thank God, these "My Bedbugs" don't play sports, or I wouldn't have had a chance." Joann Havel, the Assistant Director of Programming for WTVS Detroit Public Television said, (“MY Bedbugs) is a proven winner on WTVS. It’s creativity, educational values and child friendly approach has consistently made it a favorite with our young children.”

Alex Greene, CEO and Executive Producer, said, “We are very grateful for receiving these awards. We are especially proud of our educational recognition by the general public and by the Academy. It is the area of education that we look to broaden our reach.” My Bedbugs has previously received four Emmy Awards and has also been the winner of 12 Telly Awards.

This newest recognition has sparked increased interest in the My Bedbugs property allowing Greenestuff to explore expanded television exposure, further development of a live show production and merchandising activity. Greenestuff is anticipating rolling out merchandise including a number of product lines as early as this summer. My Bedbugs have already performed its live production throughout the Michigan region and Canada.

“My Bedbugs” are three siblings, Gooby, Toofy, and Woozy, who share imaginative adventures from their bedroom. The show uses stories and music to teach positive behaviors, good habits and everyday life lessons. “My Bedbugs,” are accompanied by their mentor, J. Edgar, (Hoover) a vacuum cleaner who teaches them to solve problems through music and imagination. With their cuddly pillow Snoozy, also by their side, each day is full of fun and games. My Bedbugs was developed by the husband and wife team of Alex Greene and Carol Sweeney who were looking for ways to develop better bedtime behaviors for their three young children. The show, now airing on over fifty television stations throughout the country is aimed at ages 2-7.
